Nadine Dorries’s book on Boris Johnson will use Bond pseudonyms
Nadine Dorries is under increasing pressure to step down as an MP after a second council in her constituency called for her immediate departure. Asked if there was frustration over the delay, the prime minister’s press secretary said in June: “It’s obviously unusual to have an MP say they will resign with immediate effect and for that not to take place.”The former culture secretary announced this week she was penning a book titled The Plot: The Political Assassination of Boris Johnson. It will be published days before the Conservative party conference in early autumn. Dorries continues to host a weekly chatshow on TalkTV. She has also written a book, The Plot: The Political Assassination of Boris Johnson, slated for publication in September, shortly before the Conservative party conference. When Boris Johnson came to power in 2019, he did so with the largest Conservative majority since Margaret Thatcher. Rewriting the political map, he united a party and shattered Labour’s fabled red wall. And yet, just three years later, he was ousted by the same members who had once greeted his leadership so rapturously. The Liberal Democrats’ deputy leader, Daisy Cooper, said Dorries’s actions were a “gross insult to the people of Mid Bedfordshire”. No 10 refused to comment on the challenge, saying it was a matter for the whips’ office. “In the broadest sense, we would always encourage people to communicate politely,” said Sunak’s spokesperson.

Wragg pressed him on whether Dorries’ messages potentially conflicted with the Honours (Prevention of Abuses) Act.It is disgraceful that she continues to have the Conservative party whip. Clearly, Rishi Sunak thinks Nadine Dorries’s actions are still worthy of being a Conservative MP,” Cooper said. The Daily Telegraph first reported the step and quoted Sir James Duddridge, a staunch Johnson ally, as saying: “Boris asked me to assist Nadine in any way with the book. I was given permission to tell her anything and I was with him over the last six months. Should be an interesting read.”
