About this deal

We haven't even started yet. I mean, we are going to do a new hi-def transfer of the original film and we'll do what can be done with the rough footage to try and make it less jarring but there's no film, the film has gone. I mean, that's the thing the fans don't understand most of the time, is that studios never kept the daily footage, the raw footage; they just threw it away... We felt the Cabal Cut was such a fan-favourite that it was worth going and acquiring it and we're going to do everything that we can to make it look and sound fantastic.

The second, though, may very well prove to be in your hands. Yes, yours.

How an animated creature can evoke so much sympathy... I guess it's all down to the performance of the actor interacting with it. Whoah! That's what I get for pre-empting. This scene is actually after Babette has been reunited with er mother and is an alternate of Lori's conversation with Lylesberg. The clip I thought it was can be found in Tribes of the Moon an earlier extra. Tony Bluto as Leroy Gomm, an overweight Nightbreed who has retractable tentacles coming out of his stomach. Now, it's not a "never" position - which is a real step forward... - but it is a huge disappointment. He’s cold, man! He’s not an actor, no, but what I liked was that there was a weirdness to him. An actor would have played a villain, whereas David didn’t. David played David. When he’s talking, he’s so plausible… I’m a big admirer of David’s, and I asked if he’d do it, and to my astonishment he said yes. When he wasn’t working he’d just sit around and write his William Burroughs script. He was great fun to have around.” At the time of its release, the film was a commercial and critical failure. In a 2012 interview, actress Ann Bobby, who played Boone’s girlfriend Lori Winston, revealed why the cast worked so well together. “I think Nightbreedwas a very sort of sterling example of what happens when a gifted director puts together his sort of cast that he knows will work well together that speak the same language. When I say language I almost mean a shorthand. There was a lot of freedom on that set in many ways.” We're over the moon, I mean, to get a title like this, again, a Holy Grail title like this, it just kinda blows our mind."
