Now that you have all of the software required, you need to optimise your settings for ACC in the Thrustmaster Control Panel. After finding the control panel program through your Windows search tab – which falls under ‘Thrustmaster FFB Racing Wheel’ – you will be greeted with a small window called ‘Game Controllers’. Here, you should hit properties, which takes you to the main control panel which consists of three tabs, ‘Test Input’, ‘Test Forces’ and ‘Gain Settings’. Unlike the T500RS, the paddles on the T300RS are attached to the wheel too, so it’s possible change when the wheel is at angle. However, I did feel as though the paddle shifters were slightly less mechanical and rigid – something I like about the original T300RS.

Though if you attach importance to a manual transmission, the investment is worthwhile. It remains to be said that such a steering wheel requires a racing seat - this is the only way you can fully enjoy its features. T300 RS GT Edition: Price UK After speaking to some of Coach Dave Academy drivers, these are the settings that they find to be optimal: The fan gets about as loud as an Xbox 360‘s, which shouldn’t be too distracting if you use headphones or are able to turn the TV’s volume up a little. However it’s not good news if you want to race a few laps late at night without disturbing anyone, where the fan’s close proximity may make its hum quite obvious. The wheel base uses a belt system, like its T-series brothers. Some had hoped the T-GT would use a direct drive system, where there are no gears or belts between the motor and “steering column”. But Thrustmaster has gone with something more familiar.

With a 28cm diameter the wheel is a little smaller than a genuine race car’s steering wheel, but still larger than other ‘kid-sized’ sim racing wheels. There’s space for a whole host of buttons up front, including the familiar PlayStation face buttons and a D-pad. Everything was within comfortable reach when gripping the wheel, and easy enough to find by touch when wearing a VR headset. The rim is wrapped in rubber, rather than authentic suede or Alcantara, but is satisfyingly grippy and durable once you get your hands on it. It’s not a major win if you race with headphones or a headset. But switching between the T-GT, T300RS and Logitech G29 those older wheels seem positively distracting by comparison. Once again, the immersion factor is simply better. Racing wheels are a pricey investment for a niche genre, but the T300RS GT Edition is a comprehensive starting point. The belt-driven wheel includes a pedal set with three metal pedals – a step up from the original T300RS model which made do with two. When I moved over to a Fanatec CSL Elite, the difference in quality was really eye opening. I've recently just upgraded my based from the CSL to the CSW V2.5 (Not intrested in the DD wheels even though it's the same price 2nd hand). Because I tend to drive late 80's to early 90's F1 cars, I find having a heavy feel with my wheel just makes me enjoy the race that much more.Ecosystem: Compatible on PS4™, PS3™ & PC with detachable Thrustmaster wheels, 3-pedal pedal set T3PA-PRO. I have a sim rig with T300RS from 2016 + TH8A (x2 manual and sequential) + T3PA Pro + TM Addon and I am very satisfied. As you’d hope, playing Gran Turismo Sport with this wheel is a completely different, and far better, experience than just using a pad. However, in quality terms they’re actually fairly close to the pedals you get with the Logitech G29. The rival Fanatec wheel has a loadcell brake, which has a much more realistic feel. It’s much stiffer, making the brakes respond to the amount of pressure applied, not just how far the pedal is pushed down. If you’re a multi-console gamer it’s worth thinking carefully about which you’d rather get a wheel for. Do you prefer Forza or Gran Turismo? Wheels like the Thrustmaster T-GT aren’t just singular products, but accessory platforms, making the decision all the more important. You can replace the wheels part itself, for example, upgrade the pedals and add a gear shifter.
