At the Vl th Winter Olympic Games in Oslo, Jeanette Altwegg became the first British gold medal winner since Madge Syers in 1908. The World Championships for Women and Pairs were held at the Ice Club, Westminster. Sonja Henie of Norway won for the second time, and among the spectators was a 7 year old English Girl who said " I should like to skate like her". Her name was Cecilia Colledge.
