About this deal

I requested this book on Netgalley months ago, but I have to admit that I didn't actually read the synposis. I was intrigued by the cover because I haven't read a book about football before! We don't have football here in Germany so I was excited about this one! I think my mistake was not reading the synopsis because my expectations were super high and I already kind of made up a story in my head about what this book could possibly deal with?????? Stupid, I know. That said, listen to how he describes these techniques, and you can see that while most women will say "Oh, that would never work on me," in fact it does. I think what a lot of PUAs miss is that perfecting calculated psychological manipulation as an art and a science isn't gender specific - you could easily develop similar techniques to work on men, or for application outside the domain of romance.

Change the Game (Graphic Novel Memoir) Colin Kaepernick: Change the Game (Graphic Novel Memoir)

It's also funny when he talks about the splintering and franchising of PUA "Projects," particularly towards the end, as Strauss goes cruising Hollywood bars and finds all the women reacting with bored amusement to his lines, which have now been disseminated so thoroughly that everyone has heard them. No wonder they get angry when they realize everyone's already heard these cheesy lines, and that sometimes even the dumbest girls have already had more than one guy in a flamboyant outfit try to screw with her head. Imagine a reality TV show that is one-third strategy, one-third destiny, and one-third spectacle. A show that chronicles the brutal race for the most powerful office in the world, and that features bigger-than-life personalities - all of whom could star in a Shakespearean play, and some of whom, a Jerry Springer special. Now envision yourself curled up on a couch next to a roaring fire on a rain-drenched night watching this TV show with a big bowl of buttery popcorn and a mug of made-from-scratch-with-whole-milk hot chocolate. Are you with me? Are you sensing the intense pleasure of all this? I hope so.

Game Change is the almost lyrical, detailed account of the 2008 primaries and general election. The story is told in the format of a novel and boasts a dramatis personae worthy of any Shakespearian play. Supplemented by exhaustively researched details and an intensity of perspective impossible in our ADHD media cycle, Game Change is the story of the 2008 election that we all witnessed, but is somehow much more.

Game Change Series by John Heilemann - Goodreads

The reason why I chose this book is because I really enjoy reading books about a sports team or player because I can relate more to the main character or characters due to the fact I love watching sports and used to play them. Zeb’s character was developed very well, it showed how he went from just cruising through high school to assuming this very important role on the football team. Joseph Monniger did a great job showing how Zeb takes on these responsibilities and becomes more aware of how this situation affects his life in the present and in the future. In my opinion the plot was unfolded decently because I could tell right off the bat some of the things that was gonna happen later on but I do think there are some parts that make you feel a relatable feeling to Zeb like when he starts to wonder if he actually does have a future out of his small town and not just life at his uncle Pushee’s auto shop. We have the idea that love is supposed to last forever. But love isn't like that. It's a free-flowing energy that comes and goes when it pleases. Sometimes it stays for life; other times it stays for a second, a day, a month, or a year. So don't fear love when it comes simply because it makes you vulnerable. But don't be surprised when it leaves, either. Just be glad you had the opportunity to experience it." (p 193)

A little gossipy, but a nice look into the intricacies of the 2008 election. " — Evlondo, 1/20/2014 A fascinating account…Heilemann and Halperin serve up a spicy smorgasbord of observations, revelations, and allegations…Game Change leaves the reader with a vivid, visceral sense of the campaign and a keen understanding of the paradoxes and contingencies of history.” — New York Times Fascinating look inside the 2008 campaigns. We should all read it again before the 2012 campaign. Politics is an ugly business.

Jag måste nog börja med att erkänna min insikt i att den här boken riktar sig förstås inte alls till mig. Jag är kvinna, i en fast relation med noll intresse av amerikanska kändisar. Dessutom gillar jag litteratur, inte Hänt Extra. It is definitely written from a liberal partisan perspective. However, it is truly engaging. A must-read for political junkies. " — Lindsey, 12/14/2013 Nicolle Wallace, a chief Palin 2008 aide, said she found Game Change highly credible, saying the film "captured the spirit and emotion of the campaign." [30] Wallace also told ABC News Chief Political Correspondent George Stephanopoulos that the film was "true enough to make me squirm." [32] Both Wallace and Schmidt have had public feuds with Sarah Palin since the 2008 campaign ended. [29] In life, people tend to wait for good things to come to them. And by waiting, they miss out. Usually, what you wish for doesn't fall in your lap; it falls somewhere nearby, and you have to recognize it, stand up, and put in the time and work it takes to get it. This isn't because the universe is cruel. It's because the universe is smart. It has its own cat-string theory and knows we don't appreciate things that fall into our laps." (p 114) Fascinating insider account of the Presidential Election. Clinton's fury that the media didn't focus on Obomas use of cocaine, Hilarious account of Bill Clinton trying to get Ted Kennedy to endorse Hillary and saying, "you know 10 years ago he(Oboma) would have been waiting on our table."As soon as you can, puff up your chest and crow about your successes to any other PUA who will listen.
