Two-person hiking tents are extremely popular among hikers for good reason. They provide accommodation for two without the need to carry two tents. For solo travellers, they offer extra space, which is handy on longer treks. My main gripes: I don't like the smaller feet end and wider top end. I also don't like the extra weight needed for the 200+ but the porch on the 200 is just a bit too small for cooking in or storing bags. The 200+ isn't really a mountain tent, but your paying the cash and carrying the weight of one! The multi-function flysheet door can be opened from either side depending on the weather; or rolled up completely to give a fully open porch. I am looking for a tent for wild camping in the summer in Scotland. I am still a beginner but love my nature and hill-walking. As is the case with almost any brand these days, Vango says it’s on a ‘mission’ to achieve a sustainable future. I'm mostly hesitating between the banshee and blade 200 (it's just for me, but allows room for my gears as it often rains). They seem affordable, light enough and weather resistant.

What would have been appropriate would have been to take the Helvellyn 200 up Helvellyn. But that’s what you’d expect us to do, so we took it on a trip to the Yorkshire Dales over the August bank holiday weekend instead.

I have an original Vango Hydra 2-person tent, made in 1995, when I bought it for using at motorcycle rallies. I still use it a few times a year. It is still waterproof, the alloy poles are still good, and I’ve only replaced the rubber peg straps. The only particular care I have taken with it is to use an additional simple small groundsheet underneath the built-in one to help avoid any punctures. I have also been very careful to ensure that it has always been well aired and dried out after use, but I would do that for any tent. Dependable hiking tents are expensive. That’s not a bad thing, it means we cherish them, care for them, they're great to use and last a long time.
