About this deal

Overall, While Paris Slept is an atmospheric, intense, impactful novel by Druart that sweeps you away to another time and place and reminds you that survival of any form takes unimaginable sacrifice, courage, strength, and often moral and ethical dilemmas. Paris, 1944. A young Jewish woman’s past is torn apart in a heartbeat. Herded onto a train bound for Auschwitz, in an act of desperation she entrusts her most precious possession to a stranger. All she has left now is hope. What a book… Emotional and heartrending…absolutely phenomenal. I was on tenterhooks throughout.

Told from alternating perspectives, While Paris Slept reflects on the power of love, resilience, and courage when all seems lost. Exploring the strength of family ties, and what it really means to love someone unconditionally, this debut novel will capture your heart. A powerful and poignant debut from a brilliant and bold new novelist’ Imogen Kealey, author of Liberation I absolutely loved it. An ingenious plot, wonderful believable characters and it moved me to tears. A fabulous read’ LESLEY PEARSEOn a darkened platform, two destinies become entangled. Their choice will change the future in ways neither could have imagined… Me emocionó y me arrancó alguna lágrima. On a darkened platform, two destinies become entangled. Their choice will change the future in ways neither could have imagined.

The story then jumps to 1953 with the couple trying to start a new life in America after the end of the war.... Read Full Review This book was beautiful - a book on love and courage demonstrated in different ways, showing that there is no one way to love or be brave. In my early twenties I moved to Paris, where I enjoyed a career in teaching. Paris was in fact the city that inspired me to write, as I discovered its rich and troubled past, and I now run a writing group here. Loved this book. Devoured the characters, marveled at the storyline and really didn't want it to end.
