I know, just to inflate my ego, what do you think of this wonderful Wildhearts book ‘Zealot in Wonderland this chancer Gar… Read this for my classics book club -- thoroughly confused, but would definitely like to read her short stories :)Si tratta di un misticismo esistenziale, un misticismo della Natura: non mi pare si possa parlare di fede in dio, questo dio o quell’altro. Reading this, I found it true that one person's introspection is not interesting to others. Too personal, certainly not linear. However, though many people on Goodreads disliked Sheila Heti's How Should A Person Be, most of them thought this book was beyond great. I liked Heti's book because I could understand what she wrote. I think it was missing a little bit of Beth Ehemann magic- especially in the ending where I needed it to fully buy into the ending.

Ahhh, I loved this book so much! First, I have to say that Cement Heart is absolutely one of my favorite sports romances ever. It’s a true hidden gem, who btw now has a brand new super gorgeous cover. Anyway, Wild Heart is the continuation of Cement Heart, so this is definitely not a standalone. Because this is not a standalone and because you have to read Cement Heart first, and Cement Heart is a little mysterious as to who Viper’s leading lady is, you will have to forgive me for being super vague since I don’t want to spoil anyone of a great story! But trust me, this is a good one. Danny: Yeah, with a mental health problem, it’s good that I’m busy. Too much downtime and the Devil makes work for idle hands, you know what I mean?Near To the Wild Heart did not speak to my heart. I found it cynical, bleak, and disturbing. It reflected, perhaps, something of the angst, passion, frustrated dreams of the young writer herself. However, the narrative epiphanies were dark and oblique right from the get-go, starting with Joana as an exasperating child in a middle-class family, her resentment at being adopted by an aunt after she was orphaned, to her unhappy marriage and its doomed dissolution. It was a joyless read even when one of the chapters was titled ‘Joana’s Joy”. Me: I lost three stone last year after gaining weight when depressed for a long period. You know when you had your 40th at The Barfly with The Yo-Yo’s, I bought a t-shirt in medium as I was at my lowest weight in a long long while… but soon after the gig I went through a depressive period and gained three stone, so couldn’t wear it. That t-shirt has just been taken out of the drawer and my goal is to fit into it. Being able to wear it without looking pregnant will be a big achievement and make me realise how far I’ve come. I thought you might like that?
