If you buy this, I recommend buying at least the first three at once. This one is definitely not enough. I finished it in one sitting, while eating a meal. The book lasted a little longer than the meal did. When I finished I wanted more. More book and more meal, lol. I'll definitely be getting more.

I understand that probably one of the characters we meet is going to be the villain just because of how they act but that doesn't mean that it is satisfying to make them nothing more than a cut out of a domineering woman who calls our hero a dog, treats him like a dog, and acts in mysterious ways because she's mysterious. It doesn't make her a commanding character, it just makes her sound whiny and self-important, even more so because we don't know her job, her powers, her fighting skills, really anything about her except she's pretty and our hero likes pretty. Great.

Table of Contents

So at the start we have Denji who is trying to survive. He'll do pretty much anything for some money. He also has his trusty dog Pochita, who has a actual chainsaw coming out of his freaking head. So together they kill devils and make money. But one day something horrible happens to Denji and Pochita must do something to save him. Tus Chainsaw Man is born!

Dear reader, it is completely nuts! Yes, there's the tired trope of the boy obsessing over a girl, but it has some fun with it - the girl basically has no interest in him, and has all the power.

Follow us on:

The cover depicts Denji transformed into Chainsaw Man cutting through and standing upon a group of Zombie Devil's minions while vast amounts of green blood spray into the air around him. Other media for this series include a novel titled Chainsaw Man: Buddy Stories that was released in November 2021 written by Sakaku Hishikawa, with illustrations by Tatsuki Fujimoto.

And of course there’s action, but if that’s what you came here for then you probably didn’t need to read this review because you already know how good it is. The overall rushed feeling does this book no favors. We were skipping from one thing to another to another, in rapid succession. Which was a shame because I was on board for the first little while, up until Makima shows up. I know people complained that Denji was bland, but I liked him. We were just meeting him, and despite his circumstances, he managed to be a kinder soul than the world around him. I liked his relationship with Pochita. I liked the ideas with the mobsters. It's just a shame it was all over so fast and we got into the weirdly fetishized plot as it blindly rushed forward and gave us less and less. Whatever character we got for Denji at the start seemed to devolve into a person a lot less interesting and savory, especially since I believe he is supposed to be around sixteen. The manga officially ‘ended’ its first part in late-2020, but thankfully the release date for Part 2 of the Chainsaw Man manga series has just been confirmed on social media. Pretty much the only 'personality' trait of the main character is that he's desperate to touch some boobs Following the death of her mother, Fourth East highschooler Asa Mitaka isolates herself from society, fearing that she would never lead a stable normal life. Her life changes forever when one day, a student in contract with the Justice Devil kills her, Yoru the War Devil arrives, saving her. As a side note, representing one of two female characters as a terrible person who is willing to use her power (in Denji's case, of seduction) over a male character and threatening to kill him if he doesn't comply isn't cool. Female characters don't have to be perfect or damsels, but at least have a decent rep of other female characters before you choose to do this with one of the only female characters you have.
