To support independent record shops The Selecter are taking part in this year’s official UK Record Store Day with a special release of THE SELECTER – LIVE IN COVENTRY ’79 on Clear Vinyl in Drop 2 on 17 July She credits her hometown saying “Coventry is responsible for making me who I am, today, it gave me the opportunity to study, work & ultimately creatively find my voice with the 2-tone movement which has spearheaded the musical conversation about racism and sexism for the past 42 years.”

We are honoured to announce we are playing on the Main Stage at the Biggest Weekend in our hometown Coventry on Sunday 27 May for BBC Radio 2 along side some amazing acts – more details HERE The Selecter reunited once again when the band travelled over to Belfast, Northern Ireland to play a show in the capital's annual Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival. [12] This was followed by an extensive tour of the UK, Europe, and in October 2014, New Zealand and Australia. [13] The band were one of the most successful ska bands of the 2 tone era, notching up several top forty singles in the British charts. Having co-released the first 2 tone ska single with the Specials, they were one of the founding acts of the movement. Though highly influential, the original lineup only remained together for a year, and even with replacement players the band only continued until breaking up in 1982.The announcement comes during Coventry’s UK City of Culture 2021 year in which she has played a pivotal role – in the bid and the celebrations. In the last few years The Selecter celebrated their 40th Anniversary and returned to the Official UK Charts in April with a reissue of their debut album Too Much Pressure. She says she was far closer to Ranking Roger, from the Beat, and was very upset when he died, in 2019 (one of the songs on Human Algebra, Parade the Crown, is a tribute). About Hall, she says: “I didn’t know Terry that well. I didn’t know Terry from the 2 Tone tour, and he just wasn’t a person that… We didn’t warm to each other, but I did admire his talent. His talent was mighty.” In 2022, the Selecter toured the UK performing their second studio album Celebrate the Bullet (1981) in its entirety. [16]
