Once we got at the racecourse, what the hell as everyone needed to go through one gate, we saw the greatest show of the Stones so far during this tour.

The band hit it off with Street Fighting Man and set the tone for the evening: high energy, meticulously played, all in sync, perfect riffs! 19th Nervours Breakdown was next, a wonderful reminiscence of their earlier days. Another classic was next, Tumbling Dice. Nov 19: State Farm Stadium, (University of Phoenix Stadium) Glendale AZ (near Phoenix) rumoured show date added. Satisfaction” was good as always; I particularly like the fact that Steve Jordan tries to replicate the rhythm part of the studio version. I think it works wonderfully, as that rhythm is an integral part of the whole sound of this legendary song. The set list was a little predictable for that small group of fans who travel from show to show. I’m guessing that no more than 50 of us are making almost every show, and no more 500 manage to get to 3 shows. So, for the bulk of the audience, the songs played were a great sample of the Stones over the years, and with one or two exceptions played very well indeed.You had to be a trained Stones observer to notice any difference to any other show in this, I think their 7th, Milan show. The first two were in 1967: this was the third at the massive, famous, San Siro soccer stadium. That trained observer would have noticed one additional ballad-like song in the setlist; a little less dancing around from Jagger, although he did sprint all the way down the catwalk to grins from Keith and Ronnie at one point; and maybe a bit less shouting at the microphone. Otherwise it was a classic Jagger performance: truly excellent. This song circulated in trading circles for a couple of months but it’s a safe bet to say that no one in the audience ever heard this one before! The yet unreleased outtake version has a nice falsetto but Jagger didn’t do that tonight. Makes me wonder how the version on the rerelease of Tattoo You will be…..

Keith Richards’ set was lovely. It could even be argued that “Slipping Away” was the highlight of the concert, as it was masterfully interpreted by Richards, with a truly awesome guitar solo in the end. Keith sang a lovely "You've Got The Silver" and a once again under - rehearsed "Connection", which in any case he plays with a remarkable "f&%k you" attitute.I was working on it quite recently. We've got a long way to go, but I think it sounds really great and I'm looking forward to carrying on with that." MJ I noticed Steve Jordan when I wanted, which means that he graduated with honours in the practice of replacing Charlie. When YCAGWYW started I feared they cut the setlist, but no. When Keith walked up to the catwalk I ecpected the opening chords of HTW, but intead we got CYHMK. My god, I did not expect this, neither the song nor that Keith still coul do this. Amazing, and the highlight for me. From what has been said so far it's business as usual: Jagger has 25 songs already demoed that they'll add to or whatever and Keith will have his one song that's pretty good and the other one that's bleh.
