Oh, this is lovely shampoo. The lather created is rich and sumptuous. Your hair is left soft, shiny, and full of body. I actually look forward to washing my hair to be able to use this shampoo. It reminds me of a very expensive shampoo, one of the first that didn't use sulfate, and which cost me an arm and a leg. The first thing I noticed was the cooling sensation on my scalp when I applied the Tea Tree Mint shampoo and conditioner. It’s great on a hot day or if you need to unwind. Even when I got out of the shower my scalp felt tingly and refreshed. It is high time now that OGX realizes and changes its policies towards its ingredients because people like to see more ethically sourced products.

When I’m testing out a new shampoo I always use the product for at least a month before I write my review. This gives me enough time to test out the product thoroughly. I compared the three products to see how they were different and what set the OGX Charcoal Shampoo apart.The key ingredients in the OGX Charcoal Detox Shampoo are activated charcoal and kaolin clay They are both excellent for cleansing an oily scalp, and giving the hair and scalp a deep detox. All impurities are absorbed including excess oil and any residue left on the hair from other products. This is one of the best OGX products for oily hair especially if you live in a hard water area as it also removes mineral build up. The OGX Purifying + Charcoal Detox Shampoo has a purifying and highly nourishing formula. It is ideal for dry and damaged hair, as it helps in conditioning your strands to balance and infuse shine. So, if there would be a reason for me not buying their shampoo, it would either be the silicones or these two reasons. The OGX Liquid Pearl shampoo is my absolute favourite OGX shampoo! It did a great job at smoothing my hair and reducing frizz, and left it glossy and manageable. If you’ve got particularly unruly hair I think this would be a great shampoo to try as it was excellent at detangling my hair and making it easier to brush.

Although all three shampoos claim to remove toxins from the hair, the OGX shampoo contains the most detoxifying ingredients. It also however contains less moisturising ingredients compared to the other two shampoos. Like activated charcoal, kaolin clay is also a powerful cleanser and exfoliator. It has a pH level of 4-5 which is similar to the pH of our hair, which is around 4.5-5.5. This means it helps to strengthen and balance the hair strands. Many of my friends are currently colour their hair, and they told me they thought this shampoo did a good job of protecting their colour. To us, being different, original and standing out from the crowd is beautiful – just look at our iconic bottle shapes and you’ll see what we mean.The thing that I do not like about OGX shampoo at all is that it is not vegan and not even cruelty-free.

I found this conditioner was not as moisturising as other OGX conditioners I’ve tried. If you have extremely greasy hair then I think it would work well since it doesn’t leave any heavy oily residue on the hair, but still provides moisture. The shampoo has a pleasant floral scent which I actually prefer compared to other OGX shampoos I’ve tried. After rinsing the shampoo out, my hair felt very clean, and only one wash was required. Since apple cider vinegar is good for rebalancing and strengthening the hair, I recommend this shampoo for anyone with greasy hair that has become brittle. If you have dry hair and are starting the Curly Girl Method, this also might be a good shampoo for your final wash. Since clay often has a negative electrical charge, there are studies to suggest it can also bind to positively charged toxins and heavy metals and remove them. Some heavy metals with a positive charge found in environmental pollution include mercury or lead.
