PVA, (Polyvinyl Acetate) is basically glue and adhesive. Joiners/ Carpenters and all DIY fanatics use it for many purposes with many companies making strong strains of the stuff. However, Plasterers use it for different reasons. New business and collaboration models, the creation of unique customer experiences and the smart use of data and technology: we are shaping the markets of tomorrow through digitalization. An important point to make is If the surface you are working on is external and likely to be washed with rain regularly, PVA is not the best product to use. For external use we recommend using SBR Bond which is much stronger and also stable in Freeze-Thaw conditions. Please also see our project on Freeze and Thaw action. PVA can be added to a cement mortar mix to give the mix a) slightly better waterproofing qualities and b) advanced adhesion to the surface it is applied to. Painting a coat of PVA on the surface before the cement mortar is applied can even further increase this adhesion. PVA and Uses With Timber

Hope you found this article useful. Feel free to leave any comments and thanks for getting involved. Concrete has a high porosity which can be a problem when deciding how exactly to seal the floor. This high porosity means that paint doesn’t adhere correctly to the floor and seeps into the concrete giving you a blotchy, streaky concrete floor.

SBR (Styrene Butadiene Rubber) is a water resistant bonding/sealing agent. PVA (Polyvinyl Acetate) has many uses, undiluted as wood glue or diluted in general bonding & sealing applications. They have similar characteristics but the main difference is that SBR is not water soluble once dry whereas PVA remains water soluble.
