About this deal

I did not like this book at all - admittedly I was a bit skeptical about it from the beginning, but I wanted to give it a go, so I gave it my best shot!

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a form of counseling intervention that draws on various theories of alternative medicine including acupuncture, neuro-linguistic programming, energy medicine, and Thought Field Therapy (TFT). It is best known through Gary Craig's EFT Handbook, published in the late 1990s, and related books and workshops by a variety of teachers. EFT and similar techniques are often discussed under the umbrella term "energy psychology".I read this book at the recommendation of someone I respect and admire, and I can appreciate the core message of this book, which I take to be this: If you constantly worry and visualize a certain reality - be it rags or riches, illness or perfect health, failed married or eternal bliss - it will make a mark so strong on your subconscious that you will create that reality. Hmmm. I'm still not sure I can buy this, and yet, this is not to be confused with the power of healthy, abundant, positive thoughts in all areas of our life. Disease can certainly come from stress and anxiety, and our goals are far more effortless if we can see ourselves achieving them and living them. Yes, there is no argument with the premise, but this premise is taken way WAY too far. Am I a pessimist or a negative Nelly? Maybe. Or maybe I need a different delivery of the same message, and to that end, I've read tons of other books which do a better job (see the history of my books on Goodreads for ideas.) The power of words: "Jesus Christ taught that man's words played a leading part in the game of life. 'By your words ye are justified and by your words ye are condemned'." [Matthew 12:37] [1] The 3 best things about this book is that it's short and sweet, well written & the authors viewpoint/argument is easy to comprehend! But in MY OPINION, I think what Florence Scovel-Shinn suggests & argues about in her book about wealth, happiness, health, love & success; is mostly a whole load of old tosh!

Alma Gilbert-Smith. The Women of the Cornish Colony. Exhibition Catalogue for 2002. Cornish Colony Gallery & Museum.Shinn mentions that through the correct frame of mind and intention, one can get the key to a happy life and it is god’s intentions to give him that life. I particularly liked it when she discussed that every human being in this world is great at doing something, and that thing is his destiny that God wants him to pursue in life. There is an old saying that man only dares use his words for three purposes, to "heal, bless or prosper." What man says of others will be said of him, and what he wishes for another, he is wishing for himself.”

however i decided to stay with the book until at least the 3rd and 4th chapters and slowly -- very slowly -- began to recognize some valid points. helpful and almost healthy thoughts, actually. so IF a person reads this work with a critical mind that knows how to separate the wheat from the chaff, then that reader could possibly refine their thoughts on what life's game is about and how best to be a player. but beware of her definitions. not all of them are reliable. The game of life is a game of boomerangs. Our thoughts, deeds and words return to us sooner or later with astounding accuracy.” This quote practically sums up the purpose of the book. Although Shinn uses a lot of biblical references to prove her arguments, I believe that her philosophies can be applied to all people with different faiths. She uses a lot of real life examples to prove her points which I loved since most people can relate to the examples she referred to. People aren't always bright. I'm just afraid that someone will read this and decide that they don't need to take their 3 year old in for cancer treatments or to the dentist for a tooth cleaning.

The Law of Substitution: According to Florence Scovel Shinn, sometimes our desires are misdirected: "Many people are in ignorance of their true destinies and are striving for things and situations which do not belong to them, and would only bring failure and dissatisfaction if attained." [1]

The student continued, “How long must one remain in the dark” and I replied, “Until one can see in the dark,” and “Casting the burden enables one to see in the dark.”

In 2014, "Your Word Is Your Wand" was released as an audiobook. The publisher was Hillary Hawkins Production LLC. The Game of Life and How To Play It audiobook was released in 2010 and again in 2015. When you arrive on a blue field, you have the possibility to take legal action on any of the other players. Yellow fields ch 1- Most people consider life a battle, but it is not a battle it is a game. It is a game however it can not be played successfully without the knowledge of spiritual law. All things whatsoever ye ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." "You must act as if you had already received.” I believe also that the emphasis on women as home makers shows the book's age. How Feminists would dislike this book! I am not sure if I am a feminist but I did not DISLIKE it. Some of the book's basic messages are true. Positivity DOES attract positivity. But I am not so sure just wishing for a Mercedes will in fact get you one.
