Start with a soft-bristled brush and mild soap or cleaner. Gentle brush the retainers to get rid of dirt and buildup. Rinse them thoroughly. How to Clean Clear Retainers (Including Essix Retainers) You see a cloudy appearance, a film, or white spots on the retainers. The white spots may be calcium deposits from your saliva. Pour warm water into a glass or the supplied cleaning box (i.e.: Wisdom Denture Bath). Make sure the water is not hot, because too hot water can distort your appliance. The amount of water should be enough to cover your appliance. Drop one Retainer Brite tablet into the water. You should see the water become blue and start to bubble, which means that the tablet is working. Unless your retainer expressly says not to use toothpaste, you can brush them when you brush your teeth. Make sure you choose a soft-bristled brush and avoid whitening toothpastes. When you’re done, rinse your retainer under running water until all toothpaste residue is gone. 3. How to Clean Your Retainers Using Baking Soda

Place your appliance into the bubbling blue solution and leave it there for 15 minutes. Make sure your appliances are fully covered with the Retainer Brite solution.
