Destiny of Souls is a book by Dr. Michael Newton (9 December 1931 – 22 September 2016), published in 2000. Newton was a hypnotherapist who developed his own age regression technique. Destiny of Souls" is the follow-up to Newton's "Journey of Souls," expanding upon the basic "map" of the Spirit World and the movement of souls through that world as they review their past life and prepare for their next incarnation. I learned from this book, that there is so much I have yet to learn. What Newton presents most will not take as scientifically founded, or even verifiable fact. Which is why I keep looking for more books that seem to prove what he says about the lives of souls are true. I think my biggest proof that what he says has alot of logical valid basis is in day to day living. Just observing myself and others...and our behavior actions and patterns and the common themes that remain throughout an individuals life, yet vary across different individuals ...show me there is something more to it than random chance." In Destiny of Souls, he examines 70 cases that are representative of the variety of 'between lives' experiences of most of his roughly 1000 cases. As an agnostic, I was not prepared for what these 70 clients revealed. I could accept an afterlife in which consciousness gradually faded into oblivion but what these clients revealed was far more sophisticated and far more demanding of us than I could have anticipated. As a lifelong student of whatever interests me I could accept that this life is a sort of school but in preparation for what? The answer seems to be a succession of lifetimes - many thousands in some cases - designed as challenges to gradually refine our consciousness to the point where we can participate in the ongoing work of... creating universes and populating them younger consciousnesses who will eventually be re-absorbed into the massive consciousness which is all there is and the source of all that is. Whether you 'buy that' or not, the revelations coming from Dr. Newton's clients are consistent across cultures, generations and genders in such numbers that we cannot write them off as co-incidence or mass fantasy. His clients came from all over the world and most of them were atheist or agnostic or just plain uncommitted. The few who had religious convictions worked to reconcile what was revealed in their sessions with what they "believed". For some that proved impossible but their memories of the life between life experience re-assured them that there is a spiritual reality that underlies material life. Case after case revealed a bit more of the process that we apparently are all undergoing but the essential steps of the process apply across the board. All that I say about it is that I found it worthwhile reading and it opened even further what I had considered to be an already open mind. I can't explain away these cases. Dr. Newton's methods are fully transparent with no 'leading statements or leading questions' so I can't fault him there. He did not ask for this bizarre twist in his career but he could no longer dismiss it and finally wrote up the cases from transcriptions of thousands of hours of audio/video recordings.

And why would a compassionate creator allow a natural system of carnivores/predators causing so much ongoing stress, fear and suffering in the animal kingdom?

A must read if you believe in reincarnation, and even if you don't... you will find this facinating. I could not put this one down! Destiny of the souls is the 2nd one. Very deep but oh-so-interesting. Newton: Choices are extremely important because we are not set in such a mold that we do not have personal volition to make changes. I think this is what’s important about our understanding of karma. Michael Newton: I began almost 40 years ago now as a traditional psychotherapist, but I was not a religious or spiritual person. In fact, I was an atheist. All these years of working with people who have explained to me what the other side is like have given me a real spiritual feeling. The follow-up to Journey of Souls. Much hard to read and comprehend than the first book. Not for the faint. Having personally experienced non-stress related out-of-body and white light experiences such research has re-enforced and expanded my understanding.

We can take a fresh approach to our lives. I think one of the best examples is that of a card player. You’re dealt a hand — whether it’s poker or bridge — at birth, and that hand can be played a number of different ways depending upon your talents, depending upon who you’re associated with. It’s just like all the aspects that go into a game of cards. How do you play your cards? There will be consequences that will result from your playing a certain way. If you weren’t free to do this, the card game would have no meaning. We learn through trial and error. I have read several books on reincarnation and a few concerning what happens between lives. This book corroborated evidence i found in other books, but sometimes i found some of the theories postulated a little hard to take. i do think it is worth reading by those serious about investigating reincarnation. but if you are like me, you will take some of the theories presented with a grain of salt. The meaning of the soul

Water is probably the most wondrous of substances having several distinct forms/properties depending the environment: Solid, liquid and vapor. It seems that“lessons” can often be so hard, and or prolonged as to severely traumatized a person and loved ones causing understandable bitterness and regression, especially when earthbound the reasons are unfathomable yet still not revealed to them, which seems counter-productive and cruel ? Christ knew with certainty where he came from, his purpose and where he was going and why he was being crucified while God in spirit by his side, giving much needed comfort and fortitude etc. ...so why not the rest of us ? The third view is that of the Vishishtadvaita Vedanta school. If the soul is older and has experience from many former lives, it knows immediately it has been set free and is going home. These advanced souls need no one to greet them. However, most souls I work with are met by guides just outside Earth's astral plane. A young soul, or a child who has died, may be a little disoriented until someone comes closer to ground level for them. There are souls who choose to remain at the scene of their death for a while. Most wish to leave at once. Time has no meaning in the spirit world.
