About this deal

Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee… As an example, Praetorians for Rome, and other specific bodyguard units from other factions. They will follow you in towns

Also in the village, the parish church of St Laurence was built by William d’Albini II dates to the Norman period, with much later restoration. The nave, west front, and base of the tower survive from that Norman church, whilst the chancel was rebuilt in in the 13th century. The church boasts a superb Norman font, and memorials to the Howard family of Castle Rising Castle. In Chapters 20 and 21, Nicaise is again a central focus of the story, as his presence in the series culminates in this moment. The Regent sends a messenger to Ravenel, which Laurent's men have just taken, to announce that the Regent calls Laurent to Charcy to fight. Laurent refuses, and the messenger pulls a boy's head from a blood-stained bag -- Nicaise's head, blue eyes gouged out, earrings still on and hair still arranged with beautiful stones, with a horrified expression on his face. The messenger claims the boy was killed for speaking out in Laurent's favor -- Nicaise had still thought that he had some sway with the Regent, because, according to Laurent, he had failed to break Nicaise's trust in the Regent completely. One listens to his soulful new album, “Delta Tales” by alter-ego Sun King Rising will make the oddness of that pairing seem almost normal. Neither his music nor his work as a renowned genetic scientist, are strange at all, it turns out. Call it “The Genetics of Soul.” This book was so good, my Salt-N-Pepa lyrics are starting to look like nonsense. Here’s the official summary:

Damen felt the hairs rise over his body. The letter was old. The writing was old. Laurent must have sent the letter from Arles. Damen thought of him, alone, politically cornered, sitting at his desk to begin writing. He remembered Laurent’s limpid voice. Do you think I’d get on well with Nikandros of Delpha? Appreciating the elaborate decoration on the outside of the keep which looks stunning when entering the castle from the gatehouse. I thought you dead,’ said Nikandros. ‘I have mourned your passing. I lit the ekthanos and made the long walk at dawn when I thought you gone.’ Nikandros spoke still partly in wonder as he rose. ‘Damianos, what happened to you?’

Came to My senses and I chilled for a bit

Kings Rising is beyond tense. The anticipation of every scene of the first few chapters is fervid. Everything hinges on the next moment, the next assumption, the next word and it’s tense as hell. There were chapters early on that because I’d needed to see them play out so badly, when they did, I felt truly gutted by them. But that’s the thing about great books: it’s the tension that gets you. Then when the consummation hits, whatever that might be, it’s all the sweeter. Came to My senses and I chilled for a bit Laurent thinks of him when freeing Jokaste from the wagon in Chapter 15, presumably in comparing the sacrifices and the mistakes that both Jokaste and Nicaise made for Damen and Laurent, respectively.
