These phones use a Qi receiver coil that enables the transfer of inductive energy. If you’re interested in wirelessly charging your mobile phone, you’ll want to verify that it supports the Qi standard. The most important thing to look for when shopping for the best wireless charger for your needs is whether it's compatible with your phone. What does Qi stand for? Qi is a universal standard for wireless charging and was developed by the Wireless Power Consortium ( WPC) founded in 2008. It is based on the principle of induction, which states that electromagnetic waves are used to wirelessly transfer energy over short distances. The Qi standard is currently used for smartphones and other small devices and has established itself as a wireless charging standard.
