About this deal

We think the Shark CH950UKT is an excellent handheld for cleaning around the home. In particular, we found that the pet tool makes it much more effective at cleaning carpets, sofas, and rugs than many other handheld models. Shark sells replacement filters for the CH950UKT. The filters should last a long time, but if they become torn or otherwise damaged then it’s important to replace them. There’s no doubt that the Shark CH950UKT is amongst the best handhelds on the market, but it’s not perfect. One of our biggest complaints is that it’s not as easy to maintain as other handheld options. The Shark Cordless HandVac Pet Model is a bit of a bargain. It did a good job of cleaning our deliberate test messes, despite operating with a lower level of suction than some of its rivals.

Finally, reinstall the filter frame into the dust cup, and reattach the canister section to the vacuum body. Your Shark CH950UKT filters have now been cleaned and your vacuum is ready to use again. Other Tips for Maintaining Your Shark CH950UKT The Shark HandVac CH950UKT has a two-part filter, which can be accessed by removing the dust cup from the main body of the vacuum cleaner. Cleaning both filters is important to maintain airflow through your vacuum and prevent suction loss. Instead of needing to detach a canister, the CH950UKT uses a one-touch emptying system. There’s a button on the side for opening the dust compartment door. It releases the dirt as soon as you push it, so make sure you do this over a bin (ideally an outdoor bin). Now that the filter frame has been removed from the vacuum, you’ll be able to remove both filters individually. This is just a case of gently prising them out of the filter frame. Note: If you’ve seen a version with rubber fins, this is the US model. The UK models have bristles. Other Tools and Accessories

One of the best car vacuums you can buy

We found that the combination of lightweight design and mini motorised tool makes the Shark cordless handheld vacuum cleaner excellent for cleaning stairs. The bristles dig into carpet fibres to pull up dust and dirt. The crevice tool is also great for whizzing around the edges. Remove the canister from the main body using the yellow button. Gently remove the filter frame from the dust cup. We recommend cleaning your Shark’s filters at least once per month. You may need to wash them more regularly if you use the vacuum a lot. Who should consider buying the Handvac? And how does it compare to other handheld vacuums? Keep reading our Shark Handvac CH950UKT review to find out. Overview of the Shark CH950UKT Handvac’s Features The Shark CH950UKT is a cordless handheld vacuum that’s designed to complement your corded vacuum cleaner, rather than replace it. We found that it’s a great tool for spot cleaning when you don’t want to get out your full-size vac, but the 10-minute run-time makes it unsuitable for longer cleaning sessions.

Only use cold water to clean the Shark CH950UKT’s filters. Never clean the filters with hot water, cleaning products, a dishwasher, or a machine wash. Step 4: Allow the Filters Time to Dry Fully For these reasons, we don’t recommend buying the CH950UKT specifically as a car vacuum. It can still be useful for cleaning most of your car interior though. Stairs The lithium-ion battery is the power source to this vac. The specs say that it has a runtime of 10 minutes, which is (more than) true because I kept it kept running for 14 minutes 43 seconds from a full charge. However I do feel that it would be helpful to have an extra five minutes or so before the vac shuts itself down. There were a couple of instances where I was vacuuming-away, didn't notice the flashing of the power button to let me know that the battery was running low and then the vac cut out. Suction remained the same throughout the duration I was using it, though, which is a good thing. There’s no HEPA filter with the Shark Handvac, which is disappointing for a pet vacuum. A HEPA filter is more effective at containing dust and pet dander, so it’s a good choice for people with animals and allergies. The more expensive WV200UK uses this filter. You also get a crevice tool and dusting brush included with the Shark Handvac. These tools are standard, but the crevice tool is somewhat on the short side, so it’s almost useless for getting between car seats. We still found it useful for areas like skirting boards, small gaps, and cobwebs though. It’s not quite the best suction we’ve seen from a handheld, though. We still think the Dyson V7 Trigger has better performance, but it’s considerably more expensive – and there’s not a huge difference in cleaning power. Around the Home We found this tool to be effective at cleaning carpets, rugs, mats, and car seats. This is due to the extra agitation, meaning that the vacuum doesn’t need to rely entirely on suction power to remove debris and hair.

Shark CH950UKT Handheld Vacuum Filters How to Clean Shark CH950UKT Handheld Vacuum Filters

You’ll get up to ten minutes of run time, which is perfect for on on-the-spot cleaning. And, the no-fade Lithium-ion battery ensures lasting power and performance. There’s also a handy battery light indicator which lets you know when the power is low. Shark Accessories One of the standout features of the Shark CH950UKT is the mini motorised pet tool that clips onto the main nozzle. This has a rotating bristle brush that’s effective at getting out pet hair from carpets, upholstery, and other soft furnishings. For example, the dual foam filters need to be pulled out by hand, rather than removing them using a plastic frame. This means you need to touch the dirty filters, while also disturbing dust into the air, before you can clean them. You can also wash the CH950UKT’s dust cup. Use the process above to remove the dust cup from the vacuum’s body, empty it into a bin, then with the lid open rinse the cup in cold water (don’t use any cleaning products or a dishwasher). Leave the lid open and place the cup on its side to allow it to dry for at least 24 hours. On the other hand, the WV200UK’s pet tool isn’t motorised, unlike the CH950UKT. This makes the CH950UKT a better option for pet hair and stubborn dirt.Thinking of buying the Shark CH950UKT Handvac? Read our review of this popular handheld vacuum before you make a decision. Both of these are handheld vacuum cleaners from Shark, but they are built for very different purposes.
