As I said at the start, I was certain that I wasn’t going to like these, based on the graphs and the descriptions by other reviewers. The strange thing is that, while they sound like I expected them to, I don’t dislike them, in fact, I find that they make me feel very relaxed as soon as I put them on.

SIVGA Robin SV021 Review — Headfonics

Technicalities: Shiro Sagisu – Hundred years war (02:24-02:57), similar width but a lot deeper and holographic soundstage on the Phoenix. Detail, imaging, separation and timbre are leagues ahead on the Phoenix. The Velcro cable tie will come in handy to bundle up excess if using the Oriole with a portable source. Two meters is too long for a mobile cable, but I appreciate the length to make the Oriole more suitable for desktop or home use. I don’t see any other headphones I have or will review for the rest of the 2021 year even coming close to the comfort factor of this Robin SV021. Those earpads are just marshmallow soft memory foam pads with extremely soft leather. Treble is quite aggressive as there are multiple peaks: I can point to at least two, one around 5 kHz and the second around 8 kHz (give or take). These two together make instruments quite harsh and fatiguing. Even though detail is fine, it ends up being lost due to the fact that highs are piercing and not quite pleasant to listen to. Extension is fine, with the upmost frequencies being possibly even too present.

Before I forget, the SV021 is transparent to a certain degree. Even though it’s a fairly easy-to-drive headphone, the DAC and AMP (source) may affect its sound signature. During my tests, I used Schiit’s Jotunheim and Luxury & Precision P6 DAP. I don’t think it would be a good idea to pair it with a warm-sounding source, not unless you want to emphasize further its bass region. Price and Where to Buy Detail retrieval is moderate and some micro-details get lost due to dips in the lower and core treble regions. This was likely a conscious choice by the engineers to give the treble a light, crisp sound but at the same time, one that is non-fatiguing and free of sibilance. Soundstage Metallica – fight fire with fire (01:11-01:52), cleaner due to the lower quantity, faster and tighter bass on the SV021 but quite sharp treble on it. I’m pretty sure that you are well aware of the extremely soft ear-pads by this point. I’d have to agree with Zeos that these are the softest ear-pads. The sv021 isn’t for everyone and I think that’s one of the most important parts of headphone recommendations to consider. We’ll run through these headphones in detail, highlighting where they excel and for whom they may fall a little short.

New Standard – Sivga SV021 Closed Back Over Ear Setting a New Standard – Sivga SV021 Closed Back Over Ear

The Robin SV021 is not a smooth-sounding headphone. It’s a bit crisp or sharp due to the slight treble and clarity emphasis. Although, I don’t think that its treble is well-extended, or (overly) bright. Its treble region hasn’t reached the level of something like the Grado SR225e, which is a bright-sounding headphone. Sivga SV021 has a detachable cable with a 3.5mm termination plug. It is a very durable high-quality cable with a woven sleeve that matches the headphone and complements its design. Enjoy High-Quality Music Straight Out Of Your Smartphones:- When I get new headphones or earphones, I always burn in the headphone for several hours. Burn-in or break-in is the process where I just let some music play through the headphone without actually listening to the headphone. This is a debatable topic or process, but I think burning in a headphone or earphone, especially dynamic drivers, is necessary. Let me tell you why.

The difference between my portable rig here and my desktop Burson Conductor 3 rig is inaudible. I believe I’ve maxed out the quality potential with the XRT amplifier here. Gaming The Robin is responsive to the nature of the amplifiers and DACs. I spent lots of time experimenting and I finally settled on the Topping E30 plus iFi Zen Can combo.

Sivga SV021 (Robin) Headphone Review: These - HIFI Trends

When it came to Dynamics, the Macrodynamics were really good. Microdynamics were sufficient enough to give me an inkling of spatiality. The difference between quiet and loud passages was quite pronounced, especially for a headphone at this level. The long list of similarities between the Sivga Oriole and Robin SV021 makes the short list of differences particularly poignant. If a softer, warmer listen is more your style, the Robin SV021 may be more up your alley. If your interests lean further into brightness and imaging, well, I’ll tell you now: go with the Oriole. As for me? I liked the Oriole a bit more – though I enjoyed both EQs equally for different reasons, the Oriole’s wide stage added extra intrigue that I simply found more exciting. Whatever you’re into, I found the pricing on both headphones to be perfectly appropriate. I hope we see even more from Sivga at this price point and quality in the future. That said, they do scale up well with a quality DAC/Amp combo like the Audioquest Dragonfly Cobalt. The SIVGA SV021 shows a slightly warmer than neutral midrange tonality with good level of headroom, clarity and airiness. The midrange sounds slightly recessed while the general resolution in this area is pretty high due to the pronounced upper midrange tuning. I had / have a pair of Denon AH-D7000 since 2012, which I used rarely with my Hifi System and enjoyed the sound alot.

Vocals are more upfront and have more body on the DT990 Pro. This gives male and female vocals more note density in addition to slightly stronger placement compared to the Sivga’s spacious, airy style. So, what makes the Robin SV021 a good buy in today’s intense market for excellent budget to mid-tier headphones? Well, we are going to find out today! That’s for sure! The young individual or the individual that doesn’t have a big bank, I write this with you in mind. DT990 Pro treble is more upfront and detailed but has occasional sibilance while the Robin’s treble is smoother. Soundstage dimensions are actually fairly similar. The Robin’s stage may even be a hair wider but the openness of the Beyer’s give it a more natural boundary. Conclusion Hiroyuki Sawano – Scapegoat (00:57-01:17), instrument and vocal tonality and timbre are leagues ahead on the 1AM2.Company OverviewSivga was established in Dongguan city, China in 2016. Being a comprehensive enterprise, Sivga integrated research and design (R&D) with production and customer service. Their main focus is on innovating and producing high-quality headphones to meet the needs of the high-end audiophile community. Sivga describes its treble as “clear and gorgeous”. Yes, it is clear, but it may or may not be “gorgeous” depending on one’s preference. To my ears, the upper mids or the treble can exhibit a certain amount of sibilance, depending on the music and/or listener’s tolerance. The “S” and “TS” sounds can be harsh depending on the music.
