One of us saw a large dark shadow in the chapel and to finish the night off we were in the John Walls room when two of us saw the same thing no-one else saw it, it was oblong shapes all over the room, purple green and a blue I couldn't describe they were floating all around. and on the partition became the residence of Thomas Procter in right of his wife Elizabeth daughter of Thomas Catterall (1579). Needless to say, it seems like the spirits behind the bar are not the only ones that are to be found in The Wellington Inn! I was given to understand that the Hall was no longer open to the public (Jan 2005) since the new owners moved in. they went to pull the locks up and they wouldn't budge so i tried to use the fob on my keys, that didn't open it so i told them to wind the windows down in the back and crawl out, they did once they got out of the car i tried my fob again, the car unlocked?

Investigators of the paranormal who have visited the building have reported that they successfully recorded several EVPs or electronic voice phenomena. I have been there a few times in the past, with various people, and have had a number of unusual experiences. There are no records of deaths at the house, but the spooky goings on suggest that hidden priests may have been captured and tortured here. I was absolutly TERRIFIED so i showed my dad and I made him delete it because i was to scared and it was on my phone! Many bus drivers have stopped for the white lady to disappear to their shock, she has also been seen walking in the nearby fields. It seemed somewhat out of the way to get to, and the outside appearance of Chingle Hall was disappointing considering its reputation, but we took the tour since there weren't any other people there to wait for.never mind with so many drunks with bad attitudes and with time on their hands a break from the pub or watching match of the day may seem a good idea.

I knocked, and a lady of Italian appearance told me that the hall was not open to the public, and never has been. I was in the toilet on my own washing my hands when something squeezed my right shoulder and my back went very cold.

The town of Preston, in particular, seems to have more than its fair share of paranormal activity going on with not one, but two of the town’s buildings being honoured among a list of the most haunted houses in the UK. The activity reported within the museum includes strange, unexplained noises and full-blown apparitions. My daughter in law felt as if she had something pressing on her neck when we were in Eleanor's room.

However, these days the 400-year-old property is more famous for visitors of a more mysterious nature. To start off on the spookiness, the building itself is laid out in the shape of a cross…but there’s more. We were the last couple out but just as we approached the door there was a very intense smell of lavender.Originally, the land where Chingle Hall now stands was owned by Ughtred de Singleton from around 1066.
