DeWalt heated jackets are equipped with innovative and invisible heating technology to keep you warm in the cold. Its proprietary battery pack offers up to 9 hours of heating, which is one of the longer times we’ve seen. You just might want to bring a backup battery for longer jobs, because this jacket is a bit of a power hog. That’s a lot of warmth, enough for dusk to dawn comfort on a hunting trip, or for pulling a double shift while you’re working in the snow.
The only thing we didn’t like is the battery pocket, which is located in your back of all places and makes it awkward to sit down or lay on your back. The workwear is designed to be lightweight so it can still allow freedom of movement, and the heating elements are durable, making the clothes long-lasting and reliable. That said, the shell is rugged and weatherproof and will keep the wind and rain off you with no issues. The Smarkey also features an auto-shutoff that turns the heating elements off if they start to get too hot. The jacket’s heating elements, which include three temperature settings are nicely placed in the chest and back to provide maximum warmth to the wearer’s core.If you already own 12-volt Makita power tools, for example, then you already own the batteries and charger you need for their heated coat. Unsurprisingly, those jackets are made for use at a cold jobsite, although they can just as easily be used for running errands around town or hiking a trail too. That same app allows users to adjust the temperature to the exact setting they want as well, foregoing the three built-in presets. I don’t many Bosch 12v yet but I saw the 12v adapter with a belt clip and it looks small and I think it’s the only one with a belt clip. With what I just discovered using an M12 stick pack, I will definitely now be using it as it’s much smaller. This heated jacket is machine washable, making it significantly easier to clean than most heated jackets.
