About this deal

The children explore some old secret hole in the house, they also find a cupboard with a false back. The contents, with a little spotting to the text block edges and folded corners to a few pages, are otherwise clean and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Adult interference is curtailed, empowerment and decision-making encouraged and these crucial elements underpin the plot of each of her works, balancing the unfortunate sexism and racism endemic to the era in which she flourished.

Five Go Adventuring Again by Enid Blyton, First Edition Five Go Adventuring Again by Enid Blyton, First Edition

Enid Blyton wrote a vast number of books (~800) and she must have written most of them in the space of a few weeks.Although the story is mostly focused on the plot, there is a bit of character development for the siblings and their cousin.

Five Go Adventuring Again - Goodreads

The plot runs its merry way and at one stage Uncle Quentin who is George's father finds that someone has been into his study with ill intent! Being only the 2nd volume it's one where some of the basic 'mythology' of the series is established.

She delivers exactly what children love - freedom, escapism and a sense of endless possibilities for adventure at the turn of each page. The children later discover the "secret way" (which was in Quentin's laboratory after all) which leads to the two artists' room in the Kirrin Farm and Anne uncovers the stolen papers by mistake and try to escape through the secret way, but the thieves almost outrun them but retreat when George threatens to set Timmy loose on them. George is also required to attend the lessons, as she has just spent her first term at Gaylands boarding school and is behind her age level.
