Like some of their higher-end ULED models, it comes with Android TV built-in, a user-friendly platform with many apps you can download.

You do get smarts with the latest VIDAA OS with support for Freeview Play, while there’s digital assistants in Alexa and Google.With DV content, viewing options switch to Dolby Vision Bright, Dolby Vision Dark and Dolby Vision Custom. There’s a clean interface that presents content in an easy-to-understand fashion, with simple navigation.

We uploaded the brightness measurements and uniformity photos after running the TV for four months in our Accelerated Longevity Test. The color temperature is cool, giving everything a bluish tint, and some saturated colors are off too.The movie has a vibrant feel that emphasises the blues of the sky and ocean, the reds in Moana’s outfit and the undertones of her skin, giving the character plenty of life. Few are the televisions capable of making pictures look simultaneously soft and edgy, but the Hisense 55A6G is one of them. These results are with the same settings as outside of Game Mode, but with the Picture Mode set to 'HDR Game'. It’s also fairly common on 4K Blu-ray, which means you shouldn’t find it hard to get the most out of the A6G when it comes to HDR. The semi-gloss coating doesn't disperse reflections very well, so direct reflections are very noticeable and can be distracting.

Gaming on it isn't bad as it has low input lag and an okay response time, but some motion still looks blurry. Unfortunately, like almost all TVs on the market, there are ads throughout the home page, although we couldn't capture a picture of one.In its most accurate picture mode, it’s only able to cover 79% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, and colour accuracy is poor with an average DeltaE of around 8, well above the visible threshold of 3. Unfortunately, you won’t find Apple TV Plus or Disney Plus on this TV, meaning you’ll need a streaming device to access either of the services of this TV. Overall I'm very pleased with the appliance and the service from the Hisense team, only 4* due to the couple of faults we've had. Really good oven, the only downside is the self cleaning program, what is absolutely not doing anything.

The Samsung also has much higher peak brightness and better reflection handling, but the Hisense has better viewing angles. It follows the target PQ curve fairly well for dark scenes, but there's a sharp roll-off at the peak brightness, causing a loss of fine details in bright scenes. There's very little difference in the pixel response time between different transitions; they're all just okay.

Hisense isn’t best known for creating high-edge premium TVs, instead focusing on creating affordable, 4K TVs suitable for a variety of budgets that use its in-house VIDAA smart platform. The A6G uses different panel types with different sizes, so the exact performance difference may vary. The upscaled 1080p image offers a smoother result and more detail than the upscaled SD version, but the image is slightly too grainy looking. This is fairly common with 4,000 and 10,000 nits content, but the A6G was also clipping images graded at 1,000 nits.
