About this deal

I didn’t notice the movement at first and thought it was fine but then when I really focused on hitting higher inputs to see if it would lift, it did and it was quite off putting. The Playseat comes mostly in parts, and there are an exorbitant amount of screws required to put it together. I feel like this wheel sits a little lower and while probably not quite as low as I would like it is pretty close to where I want it and is more comfortable than the Challenge. Some places had as many as six bolts to lock down the same connection, it feels over the top and like a premium touch all at the same time.

When selecting the pre-drilled holes, Playseat made sure that all common manufacturers (Logitech, Thrustmaster, Fanatec) are supported and that many different pedal sets are compatible out of the box and can be mounted directly thanks to the slotted holes on the pedal bracket. The sample tested here was provided by Playseat for this test and shipped from the Dutch warehouse via DHL. The two adjustable support straps on the back of the seat added a noticeable boost in comfort, particularly the lumbar strap which felt like it was working with me as I pushed into the pedals. Universal compatibility Both the wheeldeck and pedal tray are loaded with pre-drilled holes for a wide variety of racing wheels.Thing is, without the chair bit, it's far less comfortable, and it doesn't put you into much of a racing position. The pedal and steering plates feature unique movement to accommodate a wide variety of racing styles. The seating position is all wrong, which leads to faster fatigue, especially in the arms and ankles, and the pedal slippage was extremely mind-melting at times. Running a full-length race around Spa I didn’t feel the need to squirm around to find a comfortable spot and after a few laps didn’t notice the Playseat Trophy Logitech G Edition at all. This was the most easily adapted part of the Playseat Trophy Logitech G Edition and I ended up quickly cycling through almost all the available options to find the one that felt just right. I did find the material was prone to picking up scuffs though, not permanent damage but little marks that begin to look scruffy without a proper wipe down.

If you are going over hard floors and longer distances you will want to find a way to not scratch your floor(I’ve seen people use castor wheels). It’ll look at home in full sim setups but these more natural curves meant it didn’t feel out of place in my living room either. A unique feature is the low weight of 16 kilograms, which means that the rig can be moved easily without assistance and, for example, moved to the side.

This is supposed to be particularly breathable and thus offer good comfort even during long sessions. The Logitech G Edition of the Playseat Trophy may just bring a fresh coat of paint, but that’s all it needed to do as the underlying frame is excellent to begin with. If I was in a position where I had the space for a permanent rig and it wasn’t on display within my house, I ‘probably’ would have purchased some sort of 8020 or other tubular rig. However, I cannot find any reviews online and am not even sure when exactly it will be available for purchase in the US. This rig is however a fair bit heavier and it looks like it would be more sturdy than the Trophy but I m not so sure. This to me is a pretty good compromise that fit my needs and I am happy to pay a slight premium for that. To be able to achieve this at a significantly lighter and more minimalistic design is quite an achievement in my book.

I found it was easy to slide around, particularly on a rug, but with no obvious pickup point it was cumbersome to try and lift. This rig fills a gap in the market for those of us who want a sturdy and future proof rig for DDs and Loadcells but do not have a dedicated space to place it. Playseat uses lightweight materials for the construction, which nevertheless have good torsional strength. I had all the important parts for a while—the wheel, the base, the pedals—but they felt quite muted by the inconvenience of setting them up on a desk. Everything is curved and rounded off, each tube flowing into each other rather than the boxier, industrial vibe you often find.I would advise you set the distance to the wheel and your seat incline first as the pedal plate has a lot of adjustments. However, this is not nearly as portable as the Trophy Sim Racing Cockpit, which weighs only 16 kilograms and is worth recommending, especially for use in the living room. The full cockpit experience is, as I've said, a luxury, and if it's a luxury you can afford then I recommend you check out the Playseat Trophy. Though the chair is more like a hammock, in actual fact, due to how it's strapped on around the rear of the cockpit. The Trophy is designed to withstand the high torque of direct-drive racing wheels and Playseat hasn’t held back in support of this.
