As for the story, Bradley is a fresh character that children will admire for his genius, question for his malice, and laugh at for his "kumuppins"! This book is a fantastic picture story, although some younger (more delicate and fragile) children may find the concept of blowing up Father Christmas and/or feeding him to ravenous tigers a little too upsetting. With Christmas near, both Bill and Molly are worried about money and missing out on a "white Christmas". The no-holds-barred humor – both author and illustrator are not afraid to pull out all the stops with Bradley’s inventive weapons – is refreshingly funny.

But since Santa is "trapped" and does turn out to be real in the movie, then there's also a way out of the predicament.

This was the perfect marriage of author and illustrator - Poly Bernatene's illustrations were absolutely spectacular, but happily, I might add, Jonathan Emmett's storytelling was just as good!
