The cameras are incredible, and the Zeiss tuning along with all the extras and the dedicated V2 hardware allows the X90 Pro to deliver the same caliber of photos and videos as the 13 Pro and the S23 Ultra, and there's no higher praise. Results aren’t always quite as crisp as those from the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, but with that phone boasting a whopping 200MP lens, it’s not too much of a surprise.

Again, the China-only X90 Pro+ does get that deeper zoom, it’s just not included here, which is a slight drawback in comparison to the likes of the S23 Ultra.

There’s a whole range of other filters, some powered by Zeiss and some by Vivo alone, including a surprisingly good vintage film mode and a rather silly Zeiss option to add JJ Abrams-style lens flare to every photo. inch AMOLED display, Dimensity 9200 chipset and 120W charging that’ll take the phone from flat to full in less than half an hour, though FunTouch OS is rather unexceptional. Vivo refined the software to the point where Funtouch OS doesn't feel like an iOS clone, and the bloatware situation is much better this time around. The X90 Pro is so exceptionally fast and fluid that no-one could ever accuse this phone of being slow. The Vivo X90 Pro boasts Android 13 which is great, but it comes with Vivo’s rather horribly named FunTouch OS.

The camera as a whole is probably powerful enough to justify its size – more on that later – but you will have to learn to live with its design. The ultrawide is the weakest of the three rear lenses, with a drop in detail, a flatter colour palette, and diminished lowlight performance. I didn't see noticeably high battery drain when using the always-on mode, but the device isn't quite as efficient as other flagships. There really isn't anything missing here, and if you want a high-end device that looks good and takes fantastic photos and videos, the X90 Pro has plenty to offer.
