This is one of the main reasons people search out alternative fuel brands: availability. If you’d rather go with one of the premium fuels, that’s totally fine; you may just need to plan ahead; most fuels can’t be shipped, as changes in altitude (like on a place) can cause pressurized cans to explode, so online shopping may not work. Unlike every other integrated canister stove we tested, the MiniMo has actual metal pot handles with rubber insulation (so they don’t feel hot — though some customers complain that the joints can burn you). At the heart of the Stash system is the burner/regulator. Made of titanium, this component marks the biggest technological advancement in the Stash. As I mentioned before, JetBoil’s own “Jetpower” fuel, as well as some other more “premium” fuels, uses a specific mixture. It’s composed of 80% isobutane and 20% propane. Just keep in mind that it might take a little longer in the cold and in high altitudes. Most of the time the piezo ignitier should work fine in cold or rainy weather, but carry a lighter or matches just in case. With the best Jetboil stoves, you’ll likely be surprised by how fast and easy it is. How Durable Is It and Will It Last Long?

Jetboil Stoves Jetboil Stovescome in many different shapes and sizes, but they all contain the same four key elements: a cooking pot with an insulating handle that can be used for cooking over open flames or heat sources such as gas burners; corrugated metal exchanger where excess fuel is burned off before it enters your house's pipes through holes at the bottom and a push-button electric igniter depending on the model. You dont need the Pot Support, but you will need to use the Can Stabiliser - orange plastic thingo - when you are using larger or heavier pots. There isnt actually a weight rating or size limit with these stoves, largely because they're designed for hiking so its assumed they'd be able to handle even the largest of hiking cookware options. No flaws have been found in construction and durability during the testing of the MightyMo. There is something to be said for a stove design that doesn’t have any room for improvement…For more information, see our guide on compatible fuel for Jetboil stoves and alternative canisters. What To Do If Your Jetboil Won’t Light? JetBoil stoves work well in most all weather conditions, including serious cold thanks to an internal regulator that’s designed to provide steady performance down to 20-degrees Fahrenheit (-6 Celcius). Like many canister stoves, they tend to struggle a bit when the wind starts blowing through, so you’ll want to seek out a windbreak of some kind (or build your own) to get the best performance out of your JetBoil when its windy out. Cooking Features The short answer is no. If your JetBoil (or another camping stove) fits onto the fuel canister, it will work. Between me and the people I’ve camped with, I’ve used countless fuel brands for my stove, including Jetpower, Gigapower, MSR, GasOne, Coleman, Primus, and Snowpeak. None of them made a noticeable difference in boiling time or how long they lasted. I was surprised to see the MightyMo perform as well as it did against the wind. The ¾’’ gap between the burner head and pot base offers late afternoon breezes a lot of room to disrupt stove performance. That is, except for a liquid-feed stove like the MSR Windpro II, Polaris Optifuel, or Whisperlite Universal. These allow you to flip those fuel canisters upside-down, so you don’t have to worry about the cold at all.

Jetboil stoves use common liquid fuel, but it can be a good idea to invest in Jetboil’s own JetPower fuel. Not all fuel canisters work with all Jetboil canister stoves, so the best way to ensure compatibility is to buy from the same manufacturer. If you want to try the boiling power of a JetBoil stove for yourself but aren’t quite ready to spend money on something like the MiniMo, the JetBoil Zip is right up your alley. Yes, there are faster boiling stoves out there but 2m 15sec is very good. But more importantly, the fast boiling system of stoves such as Jetboil Flash goes out the window then the perfect conditions are removed and some wind/cold weather is brought to the environment. For instance, the Stash weighs in at a scant 7.1 oz thanks to its all-titanium burner and FluxRing cookpot. That weight includes everything you need aside from the fuel canister itself, and can be reduced by another 27 grams by leaving out the included folding stabilizer. Setup is effortless using the MightyMo. Simply snap in the included fuel can stabilizer, screw the stove into the isobutane canister, and find a windbreak. When placed in front of a desk fan in lab conditions for a five-boil test with Jetboil’s Jetpower 4-season fuel mix, the MightyMo averaged 3:32 to boil two cups of cold tap water. This is close to a minute slower than under calm conditions, rather impressive for a non-heat exchanger based system. Liquid fuel stoves have advantages: the international version can burn kerosene, unleaded gasoline, and white gas. We also like the liquid fuel stoves reuse the same fuel bottle, reducing the waste of pressurized fuel canisters required of the other stoves in this guide (see the Can I recycle used fuel canisters? section).
