Also I am concerned that children are being encouraged to sound out letters separately and then to listen for whole words instead of using continuous blending. Because some of my mummy friends whose children were only 2 or 3 said that their child was already recognising alphabets and blending small words, I had been very keen to introduce phonics to my very clever son. Tub contains 2 each of the 42 letter sounds, 4 each of the vowels a, e , i and o, 6 each of m and d. The characters are engaging and they are learning without even knowing I bought this to help my grandchildren learn their letter sounds .

Jolly phonics is an excellent synthetic phonics program to teach reading, but this video is extremely old and not at all entertaining to today's children.
