This fantastic little prequel is just what mystery lovers need, at whatever point they are at in the series. As part of the World Book Day books for 2021, Holly Jackson has written this lovely little prequel, which is a nice little snippet of Pippa before the release of the final book of the trilogy later this year. I’ve done a murder mystery party before, albeit years ago, and I’d like to hope that my brain is somewhere near as sharp as Pip’s. Find out where it all began for Pip in this prequel to the best-selling A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Good Girl, Bad Blood and As Good As Dead.

As Good As Dead is a phenomenal YA mystery that deserves to be one of the books of the year and provides a stellar finale to a knockout series. Not only is it a quick, fun read, I also definitely walked away with a better understanding of Pip's inspiration for her Capstone Project, the impetus for all the action in A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. But due to the insistence of friends and situational pressure, she decides to join the party and she is hooked on the murder mystery when the party starts. Pip plays Celia Bourne, estranged and neglected niece of Remy, working in London as a governess to a well-off family.I can’t say much more than that, but—though it is still early days—I think this will be my favorite book I’ve ever written.

It was nice, in Kill Joy, to go back to the start and allow Pip, the protagonist, to be a normal kid again, where her mistakes didn’t mean life or death. So as well as watching her following the steps of the game, I was thinking about what I would do next if I was the one playing along.

Will Pip be able to find out the killer of the fictional Reginald Remy based on the clues she was given by those who were conducting the party? Though Jackson said she was honored to contribute a book to World Book Day, the opportunity created a bit of a conundrum. This will be a quick little review because this book is a lovely little novel, set prior to the events of A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder. As Pip plays detective, she must solve the fictional murder case of Reginald Remy, all the while keeping an eye on the reality of the situation. This is not intended to be a full statement of all your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations.

I could see that being thrilling for elementary to middle schoolers who don’t want to be too scared, but given all the drinking and swearing from a bunch of kids who can’t even drive yet, I am not completely sure who the audience for this particular book is even supposed to be targeted towards. But as Pip plays detective, teasing out the identity of the killer clue-by-clue, the murder of the fictional Reginald Remy isnâ? The goods do not need to be in their original packaging however in a sellable condition, and at your own cost and risk.I was between books in my series, and I didn’t have the headspace, or the time, to create a whole new cast of characters in an independent story. Though the end of the game wasn’t huge, I got a kick out of Pip and her defeat and how she handled it. Pipp and her friends have a murder mystery dinner party, where each of them plays a different character and they collect clues to find out who the killer is. This is a used book - there is no escaping the fact it has been read by someone else and it will show signs of wear and previous use.
