The Glade air freshener uses a light level (shadow) detector and a motor and gear train to depress the canister nozzle and dispense the fragrance. I was sent this to review but I wouldn't purchase it again for our home, I think if you have it in a small space it may work well but the smell seems to get lost in our house so unless you're standing right near it the smell is very faint.
