About this deal

The TP-Link Archer AXE75 has the usual four Gigabit LAN ports and one Gigabit WAN port. It has no Multi-Gig port. HomeShield includes the Free Basic Plan. Fees apply for the Pro Plan. Visit www.tp-link.com/homeshield for more information. To put in a sentence, the Deco XE75 is an affordable Wi-Fi 6E system that gets the job done with minimum effort as long as you’re OK with managing your network TP-Link’s way. To avoid wireless disconnect issue during firmware upgrade process, it's recommended to upload firmware with wired connection unless there is no LAN/Ethernet port on your TP-Link device.

On the new 6GHz band, it was about the same as any other Wi-Fi 6E router. This band has a much shorter range than the other two and generally only works well when clients are within a line of sight. The XE75 shares the same features set as the previous Deco set. It comes with support for Dynamic DNS— in this case, it only supports TP-Link’s free domain –, IP reservation, and port-forwarding. There’s also a simple QoS engine where you can add individual devices to the priority list.Use of Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), Wi-Fi 6E, and features including OFDMA, 1024-QAM, and HE160 requires clients to also support the corresponding features. Not all seven 160MHz channels may be available in the 6 GHz band in some regions/countries due to regulatory restrictions. The double channel width refers to 160 MHz compared to 80 MHz for general WiFi 6 routers. This new system will deliver for those wanting a reliable wireless mesh for their modest network. And if you have wired your home, you can expect consistent Gigabit-class sustained speeds. I will disappoint, though, and say that I have no intentions of wiring my house. It was built in the 1950’s and is not already wired, but is also half-crawl/half-slab, and I just don’t really have the need to do so, as it’s just my wife and I here with super normal internet requirements. But, at the least, TP-Link has kept some part of its promises, an improvement compared to the hardware it announced in early 2021, which all became vaporware. There's hope that the company will ship more products before the year-end. Testing the TP-Link Deco Tri Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6E system was easy. We have tested many Wi-Fi systems and found setting up those systems could be overwhelming to some people, especially if you're not tech savvy or comfortable working with smart devices, routers and modems. However, TP-Link does a nice job of walking you through the setup process in the Deco app. You will not have to access your existing modems system settings or try to troubleshoot any issues. Just follow the Deco app instructions and you'll be up and running in no time.

WiFi 6E allows for 7 (3 for European Union Member states) additional 160 MHz channels, offeringup to 1,200 MHz (480 MHz for European Union Member states) of additional spectrum for 6 GHz WiFi. Paired with the support for USB external drives (as many as four with a USB hub,) I can remotely access files securely and privately via the FTP function. It's a great time saver, and the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port makes for snappy file transfers with the 5GHz/6GHz Wi-Fi band. HomeShield includes the Free Basic Plan. Fees apply for the Pro Plan. Visit tp-link.com/homeshield for more information.

Fast performance, ease of use, and 6GHz Wi-Fi make the TP-Link Archer AXE75 a smart choice for users looking for a future-proof mainstream Wi-Fi router. Granted, it doesn’t offer multi-gig networking ports or link aggregation, but these features are typically found on more expensive routers. The AXE75’s impressive throughput and good signal range, combined with strong parental controls and a user-friendly mobile app, are enough to merit an Editors’ Choice award for the nascent category of affordable Wi-Fi 6E routers. Some official firmware of TP-Link products can be replaced by the third party firmware such as DD-WRT. TP-Link is not obligated to provide any maintenance or support for it, and does not guarantee the performance and stability of third party firmware. Damage to the product as a result of using third party firmware will void the product's warranty. Open Source Code For Programmers (GPL) The TP-Link Archer AXE75's Wi-Fi performance -- close range (left) vs long range -- against other Wi-Fi 6E routers Fronthaul is the Wi-Fi signals broadcast outward for clients or the network ports for wired devices. It’s what we generally expect from a Wi-Fi broadcaster.

Clients need to support 802.11k/v/r and may require additional setup. Performance may vary depending on the client device. IMPORTANT: To prevent upgrade failures, please read the following before proceeding with the upgrade process In addition, if you activate the fast-roaming feature which allows devices to switch connections to different Deco seamlessly, you might experience some performance issues. When we turned on this feature some of our devices we're not working or would disconnect. We had to disconnect them from the Deco network and then rejoin the network to get them to work again. Also, if you activate the beamforming feature in the Deco app you might experience similar problems. It seems older devices on the Deco network will have performance issues and need to have their setting corrected if not done so by Deco during setup. Each Deco XE75 router is a relatively compact tube measuring 4.1-inch (105 mm) wide and 6.7-inch (169 mm) tall. It looks like a smart speaker. And while the new Archer AXE75's hardware is somewhat entry-level, that might be all most home users would need, and the router beat my expectations in testing -- more below. So its low cost can only mean better, more widespread Wi-Fi 6 adaption. If you’ve used a mobile app before and can pay some attention, you’ll likely also find this a walk in the park. The TP-Link Deco XE75 has relatively poor network settings than a standalone router, including TP-Link’s Archer family. But it does have support for TP-Link and Philips Hue smart home devices.
