About this deal

This style that Makita has pioneered places the rails beside the saw, instead of extending out behind it. That means you can use it in more confined spaces and smaller wood shops.

When I first saw the Makita LS1019L in Dallas on our Makita trip, I thought it was cool, but it didn’t make me turn my head. Not because of the saw or the technology, but because I am stubborn. At the time I was already sold on the Dewalt DWS780 as being the king of miter saws and for a shop saw, the Bosch CM12SD Glide Saw as it saves room on your work bench. I didn’t need to be sold on a new saw. It also sports a unique rail system for the sliding action, which allows for a smaller footprint, comparable to the ‘Gliding’ technology in the Bosch 10″ sliding compound miter (see link below).

High power provides efficient cutting in wood and aluminum extrusion (aluminum blade and cutting lubricant sold separately) LS1019L

I know some larger wood shops may not have this issue, but either way, dust collection is still important. And unless you’re willing to build a dust collection box around your miter saw, the dust system built-in to the Makita LS1019L is one of the best you can get. So in comes the Makita LS1019L sliding miter saw. The first thing you notice is the 2 rails lined up on the side of the blade. It’s different, a little strange looking, but also a really cool and practical design. Increased capacity for up to 6-5/8" crown molding (vertically nested), 5-1/4" baseboard (vertical), and 12" crosscuts at 90° Overall this is a great saw. My biggest complaint is the fencing system and not being able to slide the fence to support certain types of applications. The Makita LS1019L 240V 260mm Slide Compound Mitre Saw Laser is a fantastic tool for professional carpenters, joiners and kitchen fitters. This corded tool delivers a no-load speed of 3200rpm and has an input wattage of 1510W to make cuts fast and effective. With a maximum mitre range of 60-60° and a maximum mitre cut at 90° of 68x310mm this saw is extremely versatile. Adjusting the bevel is simple and the in-built laser guide will ensure you get the most accurate cuts possible. A couple users indicated that the rails are slightly off square, meaning the blade drags just a bit on long sliding cuts Overall for the price range, I honestly think this is a really good saw. The dust collection and the massive cutting capacity for a 10″ saw are the big selling points for me personally. I do however think the rail system is very cool and I would absolutely recommend this sliding compound miter saw to anyone that does a lot of trim work.
