About this deal

Oppo hasn’t officially stated an IP rating of the phone; we’d treat it with caution then, though it’s likely at least splashproof. Another day, another Android phone, because if you’ve seen one of these recently, you probably know how to use it. When testing, do not remove any protective film or tags. Please take extra caution to prevent static electricity. The color depth of the display is also known as bit depth. It shows the number of bits used for the color components of one pixel. Information about the maximum number of colors the screen can display. It means that regardless of what you’re doing, you should find the A94 runs along smoothly, without so much as a hint of lag or slowdowns. They do pop up from time to time, but they’re rare and fewer in number than what we experienced with the similar A54, which sported only 4GB RAM, and felt severely underpowered.

Information about the sensor type of the camera. Some of the most widely used types of image sensors on mobile devices are CMOS, BSI, ISOCELL, etc. The 16 megapixel selfie camera up front is handy, but little here in the camera departments manages to really wow, and seems very much in line with what we’ve seen on Oppo’s less expensive model, partly due to the fact that it is the same system altogether. Battery In photography, the Field of view (FoV) depends not only on the focal length of the lens but also on the sensor size. It is derived from the lens's angle of view and the sensor's crop factor. The lens's angle of view is a measure of the angle between the two farthest separated points within the frame measured diagonally. Simply put, this is how much of a scene in front of the camera will be captured by the camera's sensor. One of the main characteristics of the cameras is their image resolution. It states the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the image, which can also be shown in megapixels that indicate the approximate number of pixels in millions. When we put the handset through the Geekbench 5 benchmark test, it returned a multi-core score of 1641 - the A54 got 1664, and the A74 got 1629, so they’re roughly on par performance-wise. For context, the OnePlus Nord got 1877, the Moto G100 got 2875 and the Realme GT hit 3508 - all these phones are roughly similar in cost, though they do cost a little bit more than the A94 5G.

One member of a competitive family

Information about the process technology used in manufacturing the chip. The value in nanometers represents half the distance between elements that make up the CPU. Estimated volume of the device, calculated from the dimensions provided by the manufacturer. Applies for devices in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped. The display resolution shows the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. The higher the resolution is, the greater the detail of the displayed content. The handset likely won’t go on sale in the US, as Oppo doesn’t sell its phones there, but Australian availability is up in the air. While the A94’s siblings are all on sale in the country, this phone isn’t - this makes it unlikely the handset will reach the golden shores, but we can’t say that for certain. Display The display of a mobile device is characterized by its technology, resolution, pixel density, diagonal length, color depth, etc. Type/technology

RAM (Random-Access Memory) is used by the operating system and all installed applications. Data in the RAM is lost after the device is turned off or restarted. But the camera has stayed the same, so the 48 megapixel main camera is the only winning feature, while the 8 megapixel ultra-wide is a little sub-par, as are the extra 2 megapixel cameras for monochromatic portraiture and macro shots. It’s a feature that could have been improved upon, and we wish it had. Information about additional software and hardware features of the front camera which improve its overall performance. The Oppo A94 5G has four rear cameras, and it’s the same array as the A54 and A74. Finally, a section in which we don’t need to keep comparing it to its family! We found the software fairly smooth to navigate - the chipset and RAM definitely help - but now and then there were small stutters or delays when swiping. A higher screen refresh rate definitely wouldn’t hurt either. Overall, the images are relatively solid in daylight, while lower light means you’ll want to fire the flash, with darkness not exactly playing nicely regardless of whether on night mode or without. We found the Oppo A94 fairly easy to hold, though it’s far from a ‘compact phone’. Weighing 173g and measuring 160.1 x 73.4 x 7.8mm it’s not too big, perfect for people who don’t need giant handsets.
